Intellectual Property Services (IPS) is a small Belgian IP-company that helps in the process of implementing and taking  tangible results from innovation processes. We offer a range of services in the Intellectual Property area specifically in  patents. 

OUR GOALS

Our main goal is providing our Clients with high quality support for innovation. For that purpose, IPS positions itself as part of the Client’s team being able to deliver solutions and alternatives as an in-house IP Counsel. This can be of   particular advantage for SMEs and R&D units that have no need to hire a full-time IP expert but still require accurate and reliable deliveries in this area.

 SERVICES

To achieve the above-mentioned goals, we provide the following services from supporting R&D on identifying  inventions, including training and raising IP awareness among the company staff to support marketing IPRs.

In relation to national, European (EPC), International (PCT) patent applications & Utility Models applications we perform:

• Support in the establishment of intellectual assets strategies, developing and managing an IP portfolio,
• Technological prospection,
• Prior art searches (using also invention classification codes),
•  Patentability reports,
• Drafting of patent & utility model applications,
• Prosecution of patent & utility model applications (ex. reply to notifications, transition to provisional to a regular patent application, transition from national applications to EP and/or PCT and vice-versa, attending oral proceedings),
• Filing oppositions, appeals and third-party observations against competitors,
• Defending Client’s IPRs in opposition, appeals and third-party observations.
• Drafting agreements, such as technology transfer agreements, confidentiality agreements, material transfer agreements, R&D agreements.

In addition, we also provide patent training according to several levels of expertise, from the basic to the advance related to the Portuguese, European (EPC & UP), and international patent law (PCT).

 OUR TEAM

IPS integrates highly skilled human resources with PhD in biotechnology, biochemistry and other technical areas, and competent, long experienced resources in IP matters with more than 20 years of experience in this field.

Our Team is composed by patent experts either in technical or paralegal matters. These experts are certified before the  European Patent Office and/or official representatives to several national offices. Our professional network also extends to US, Canada, Latin America and Asia. This allows us to work worldwide and in all fields of technology with the same level of quality and commitment to the Clients.
